Logicalis UK has paid an undisclosed sum to acquire Tandberg platinum reseller Direct Visual Ltd, which supplies video-conferencing kit and video managed services.

The Tandberg channel has undergone major shifts in the last nine months, with Cisco resellers out scouting for Tandberg talent to add to their businesses since the acquisition of the vendor closed last April.

Logicalis' rival DiData has already made a play into the sector, acquiring mvision last September.

And just last week, Tandberg's distribution contract with Avnet was handed to Cisco-specialist distie Comstor, whose parent Datatec also owns Logicalis.

Logicalis managing director Tom Kelly said the firm had been looking at video for some time, adding that he expected it to "become an ever more important part of our integrated unified communications and collaboration portfolio."

"Direct Visual brings the highest elvels of technical expertise with a strong management team and supplier relationships. There is a great opportunity to further develop a new range of managed video service offerings to our joint customer base," he added.

Direct Visual made sales of approximately £9.4m in the last financial year.
