Mobility software outfit Antenna Software has forked out an undisclosed sum to acquire mobile internet software company Volanits systems as part of an attempt to position itself as an end-to-end mobile solutions provider for the carrier market.

It claims the acquisition, which adds new offices across EMEA and APAC, as well as giving Antenna a leg-up into key mobility verticals and new capabilities, such as mobile commerce and enterprise app stores, will make it a market leader for cross-platform mobile solutions.

"Our mobile solutions not only manage the complex requirements of the workforce but also the demands of consumers who want to interact with a brand on the go across myriad devices," said Antenna CEO Jim Hemmer.

"[We will] deliver a consistent and compelling mobile experience to all," he added.

IDC EMEA enterprise mobility research director Nick McQuire said that half of all web users would be mobile web users dutring 2011, adding: "It's clear that no company can afford to have just a mobile website strategy or just a mobile apps strategy."
