Buffalo Technology has made the decision to pull out of the memory market in Europe in the face of stiff competition and tough economic conditions.
The vendor is withdrawing from the European market at the end of March but will keep its memory operations running in Japan and Asia Pacific.
In a statement which stressed that all efforts had been made to keep the memory side of the business in Europe going the twin factors of increased competition and the effect of difficult economic conditions were blamed for making it too difficult to carry on.
The vendor will now put its efforts across EMEA into supporting its storage and wireless networking products.
"this difficult, but sadly unavoidable step was taken after a comprehensive review of the long term viability of the business. We considered all possible alternatives and took into account the interests of all stakeholders, especially our loyal customers," said Dave Gibson, EMEA sales and marketing director, memory at Buffalo Technology.
