RES Software changes licence packages and lowers prices

Simon Quicke

Desktop virtualisation specialist RES Software has changed its pricing structure, reducing the costs of its entry-level products, in a move designed to widen its customer base.

The vendor has introduced the ability for the customer to have named-user licensing and buy modular lite products that start at £20 in response to both the current economic climate and feedback from users.

Existing customers that have made an investment in the products will be protected with current concurrent licensing podels continuing to be available.

Chris Hammans, UK regional director at RES Software, said that price and flexibility were on the user wish list and it had adapted its products to create a more modular approach that gave customers various points of entry into its portfolio.

"We want to grow the market but are very sensitive to the cost of each of the individual licenses," he said.

The vendor had received some negative feedback from users around flexibility and Grant Tiller, senior product manager at RES Software, said that this move would satisfy those demands.
