Redstone cuts 83 jobs as restructuring winds down

IT and network integrator Redstone is to cut a further 83 members of staff as it re-aligns its cost base to reflect the restructuring of its three business units, Redstone Converged Solutions, Redstone Managed Solutions and Fujin Systems, into one entity.

The firm has bid farewell to over 170 people in the last three months through both redundancies and the sale of its security resell and services unit to management in December.

Further to the round of cuts announced today, Redstone has now put a new management team in place to run the consolidated businesses, which are to be branded simply as 'Redstone'.

Chief executive Tony Weaver, who took control of the firm last summer alongside serial entrepreneur Ian Smith, said he was "looking forward to devoting a hundred per cent of our time and energy on driving the business forward as a single entity".

In a statement this morning, Weaver said he saw a strong pipeline of opportunities, and also thanked both current and former staff for their "service and contribution".

In the last period for which figures are available, Redstone saw its sales decline 12 per cent to just over £32m, and cut its operating losses by 84 per cent.
