The former managing director of BT Lynx has put his weight behind moves made by the Internet Group to carve out a slice of the mid-market.

Paul Edgeley has joined the board as an executive director and purchased shares in the firm in the belief that it can exploit some of the groundwork it has taken to boost mid-market sales.

"The company is well poised to take advantage of the considerable investments made to ensure it can perform and deliver in this highly competitive sector," he said.

Adam Maurice, managing director of The Internet Group, said that demand for managed services from firms in the 100-350 employee cataegory was picking up.

"We are seeing a number of mid-market businesses re-evaluating their IT spend," he said.

Along with the Edgeley appointment the managed services specialist has also recruited Stuart Grist as sales manager.
