Dell is to add a new tier to its PartnerDirect programme to support its aim of becoming an end-to-end ICT solution player.
As previously revealed by MicroScope, Dell has been mulling the addition of a top tier to its programme for some time.
The firm currently plans to buy eight to 10 companies a year and this strategy means that there are plenty of new technologies and certifications that need to be incorporated into PartnerDirect.
The new Premier partner level will absorb approximately 10% of partners currently at the Certified level, bringing enhanced benefits such as priority access to named marketing support agents and extended 180 day deal registration and protection terms.
Dell EMEA head of channel programmes and marketing, Kathy Schneider, told MicroScope that partners with higher revenue thresholds and two or more certifications would be eligible to become Premier partners.
"We wanted it to be exclusive, and partners had asked us not to dilute the differentiation potential," said Schneider.
"Thirty to fifty partners EMEA-wide will find themselves on the Premier level," she added.
Meanwhile the Certified tier will fade into history to be replaced with a Preferred partner tier, which will accommodate partners with at least one certification and a minimum annual revenue threshold.
Benefits and structure for Registered partners will remain the same.
Dell has also tweaked its Enterprise Architecture certification, dividing it into two seperate accreditations around storage and servers. The other two certifications, which are Networking/Security and Systems Management, are unchanged.
