D-Link targets specialist video channels with Norbain distie deal

Alex Scroxton
IP video and CCTV distributor Norbain has signed an agreement to sell D-Link's IP camera and security line-up as well as its wireless networking, routing and switching portfolio.

The agreement builds on the increasing shift of CCTV and physical security solutions onto the network, and according to D-Link UK and Ireland general manager Chris Davies addresses the needs of Norbain resellers that are still selling stand-alone solutions.

"CCTV partners have tended to stay in their own camp, and so have IT partners," Davies told MicroScope.

"Companies like D-Link, which has followed a specific network infrastructure path but in the last couple of years has developed storage and IP camera offerings, consequently also need to put in place new partners," said Davies.

" Computerlinks addresses some of that, but to get a broader reach, Norbain can bring a completely different customer set and assets," he added.

"Today's customers need to have confidence that security products will work with their network infrastructure and vice versa," said Norbain branded CCTV divisional director Buzz Coates.

"We can [now] offer resellers a truly interoperable and end-to-end solution, which can deliver them real competitive advantage," he added.
