Sage expects upgrade boon for resellers with 200 launch

Sage is hoping the availability of its latest version of its flagship business intelligence product will spark a rush of upgrades from its entry-level customer base.

The vendor is looking for its Sage 200 product to entice users that have outgrown its entry-level Sage 50 product with a raft of enhancements that should appeal to firms with a turnover between £1 to £50m.

Steve Atwell, general manager of Sage UK's lower mid market and channel division, said that there was pent-up demand for a product that offered more online functionality and support for Blackberry and iPhones, pointing out there is a user base of 400,000 currently using Sage 50.

"With firms increasingly focusing on growth, it comes as mo surprise that so many of our business partners have committed to selling the new solution and that feedback from our beta customers has been so positive," he said.

Atwell added there were around 120 partners currently selling Sage 200 but it was looking to recruit more resellers if they had expertise in vertical markets.
