SCC to make data centre services carbon neutral

Alex Scroxton

SCC has signed an agreement with carbon management specialists co2balance to offset carbon emissions from its £20m hosted services data centre facility.

Co2balance offers carbon footprint calculation, management and reduction services and will offset SCC's output through third world development projects.

SCC CTO Rhys Sharp said the move came in response to a resurgence in customer concerns around carbon neutrality.

"Clients looking to reduce their emissions are increasingly demanding certified carbon zero status throughout the supply chain, and we have been happy to respond," he said.
