Acronis is to give managed services providers (MSPs) access to a new monthly subscription-based licensing model for resellers looking to provide disaster recovery and data protection services to their end-user base.
The vendor wants to provide a lower-cost, more flexible way to sell its products, with the usual recurring revenue benefits that such models provide.
It has also thrown in acess to its Acronis Academy training programme, and given partners the ability to easily move licences between customers.
Softcat has signed on as a licensor, saying it is seeing strong demand from its MSP community for more cost-effective backup and recovery software options, according to commercial director Dave Simpson.
Acronis general manager of northern Europe David Blackman said the firm's goal was to "provide our channel partners with the right tools to help them grow".
