Top Layer rebrands to Corero Network Security

Following its acquisition in February by buy-and-build venture Corero, network IPS specialist Top Layer has today announced its formal rebranding to Corero Network Security and launched a new DDoS defence product designed to detect and block application-layer attacks.

The firm has over 10 years of experience in DDoS defence and mitigation solutions but claims its newest platform has industry-first features, including three-dimensional protection against network-borne cyber threats, such as botnet attacks, that other DDoS solutions are powerless to stop.

"Through a combination of acquisition and organic development it is our mission to form a leading network security technology business," said Corero Network Security general manager Marty Meyer.

"[Our] new DDoS Defence system takes our core patented capabilities and creates a small-footprint, low power consumption, cost-effective solution that stops the disruptive force of application-layer DDoS attacks," he added.

Parent Corero continues to target further acquisitions to bulk up its security business during the course of 2011, but according to sales vice president Andre Stewart these will be towards the back end of the year.
