Lack of time, skills and budget are all holding back enterprise users from taking the right security steps to keep their data safe.
Research from Hewlett-Packard, undertaken at this years InfoSec show, discovered that enterprise customers are chasing their own tails when it comes to coping with the latest threats and a significant number arew resigned to that situation remaining the status quo for some time to come.
The HP findings revealed that 55% of those enterprise users quizzed felt their current security measures did not do enough to protect them and 59% added that the time it took for them to get round to improving things impacted negatively on their ability to deliver new services.
But there are budgetary constraints that a third of those surveyed felt were making it difficult to improve the situation with 30% also highlighting time as an issue and 16% admitted they did not have the in-house skills.
The HP survey comes against a background of increasing sophistication in attacks by cyber criminals on enterprises, along with the growth in nation-state backed assaults on corporate and government networks.
