Intel VARs to get CompTIA certification

Intel VARs to get CompTIA certification

Intel has teamed up with industry trade body CompTIA to build a new Server Specialist reseller certification intended to grow dealer customer bases.

This is the first time CompTIA has moved into certifications on behalf of one of its vendor members, although it has designed vendor neutral certifications in the past, said European VP Matthew Poyiadgi.

The certification will enable VARs to identify and recommend Intel Xeon-based kit, configure and install it, recommend maintenance and disaster-avoidance services and troubleshoot subsequent problems should they arise. It will form a key plank of Intel's Technology Provider partner programme.

Intel spokesman Richard Peel said: "The market is changing and selling technology is no longer enough; to stand out providers need to understand customer problems, recommend and install the right solution and provide ongoing support."

As part of the certification process Intel intends to offer offline learning content, with exams provided via Pearson Vue.
