Corel plans channel changes to promote brand

Simon Quicke

The name Corel might well be one getting some more channel attention if the newly appointed sales director for UK and Ireland gets his way.

The software vendor has appointed Niels van der Valk as the sales director with a brief to dust down the vendor's channel operations and get the brand noticed by more resellers and customers.

Part of the activities planned to boost the brand include, according to a company statement, "including new channel partnerships and distributors via Corel's partner programme, heavily promoting Corel's growing product portfolio and capitalising on new and developing industries."

Corel is probably best known for its Draw and PaintShop products but has faced stiff competition from the likes of Adobe and Van der Valk is aware of the challenge ahead pointing out that there was growth in product sales and it had to take advantage of that momentum.
