ThinkGrid urges partners to develop vertical approach

Hosted virtual desktop specialist ThinkGrid is encouraging its reseller partners to target vertical markets with bundles designed to meet the needs of specific customers.

The vendor has taken the wraps off its Windows 7 virtual desktop product which offers users the chance to migrate to the latest flavour of Microsoft OS but is urging its partners to add value by delivering solution bundles for specific vertical markets.

"The resellers can bundle for specific verticals and add applications for specific offerings put together by themselves which they can control and that will give power to the partner to brand it and build a much wider audience," said Rob Lovell, CEO at ThinkGrid.

He said the other advantage of a virtual desktop sale was that because it was hosted it gave the reseller the chance not just to create vertical solutions but to target a wider geographical area: "It could help get them out of a 20 mile radius into a 50 mile area."

The ThinkGrid virtual desktop can be sold by the channel on a monthly basis with the vendor underlining the ability for customers to migrate to Windows 7 on an opex basis.

"With support for Windows XP coming to an end, many businesses will soon have to upgrade to Windows 7 and incur significant Capex and migration costs," said Lovell.
