Swivel appoints Cohort in reseller recruitment drive

The well publised problems with two-factor authentication token products has seen sales increase for those vendors offering alternatives with Swivel Secure choosing this as the moment to expand its distribution and widen its reseller base.

The vendor, which specialises in tokenless two-factor authentication, has not only seen sales rise as a result of the problems RSA has suffered with a security breach and a recall of its tokens but also the large number of attacks and breaches suffered by government departments and major brands over the last few months.

In order to expand its reseller base the vendor has appointed Cohort Technology as a distributor to work alongside its current partner Arrow with a brief to bring onboard fresh partners.

"Cohort is focused on new partners and they have a number of technology resellers that are ideal," said Richard Harris, managing director at Swivel Secure.

He said that the current climate of uncertainty around breaches and protection had been an opportunity for it to expand and fill the gap left open by some rivals suffering from those customer doubts.

"People have opted for [two-factor tokens] because they thought it had been the only solution but they are currently reviewing that looking for secure and reliable alternatives and that has helped fuel our rapid expansion," Harris added.

In response Grahame Smee, managing director at Cohort, said that the Swivel product PINsafe fitted well into its portfolio and it was confident that it would be attracting resellers to take the product.
