Cloud Alliance slammed by standards group

The establishment of the Star Internet backed Cloud Alliance came in for some criticism from the Cloud Industry Forum.

Described by a friend of the Alliance as a "storm in a teacup" the main sticking points were around standards and the idea that the channel could find unwelcome competition from a group of suppliers targeting SMEs.


HP reshuffles ESSN management pack

Management stories are two a dozen but in this case HP had to move fairly quickly to plug a gap that was created by such a short tenure by Frederic Dussart as senior vice president and general manager for ESSN EMEA.

SAP in hunt for UK boss as Noble moves into emerging role

SAP has started the hunt for a new boss to run its UK and Ireland operations after the current incumbent was handed the role of looking after emerging markets for the software giant.

Tim Noble, who had been running UK and Ireland, has been given a role as head of emerging markets in EMEA starting immediately.


Mitel sees profits slump 80% in Q4, has high hopes for 2012

Unified communications vendor Mitel has bounced back from net losses in the third quarter of its financial 2011 to post GAAP net income for the fourth quarter of $4.4m (£2.7m), but on a year-over-year basis the figure was still down 80 per cent.

Revenues at the firm grew just 1.7 per cent to $166.6m as the firm worked through a major reorganisation under the leadership of recently-appointed CEO Richard McBee.
