video conference comstock.jpgHD video solutions specialist LifeSize is to sell its gear through Avnet Technology Solutions in the UK, as part of the distie's strategy to tighten its end-to-end unified comms offering.

The appointment of LifeSize, which is a technology partner of Avnet vendors Microsoft and Avaya, will help partners exploit growing demand for visual communications and collaboration, said Avnet.

"Business partners can no longer afford to be niche players," said Avnet UC business manager Adrian Studd. "They need to expand and deliver an integrated range of multimedia solutions.

"To help them achieve this Avnet reviewed the marketplace and opened negotiations with LifeSize, having been impressed with the company's forward-thinking approach and innovative technology," he added.

Avnet plans to install LifeSize technology at its demo facilities in Bracknell and Warrington, and will also offer mobile demonstrations to resellers and customers, along with the usual distribution perks.

LifeSize EMEA channel and alliance director Georges Millet hailed an "important step" in the vendor's business strategy and said the firm's joint proposition would help VARs stay ahead of the curve.
