Nola's appointment follows DiData's acquisition of US-based cloud provider OpSource earlier this month, to form the core of the new cloud unit.

Nola has already steered some success in this area Down Under through an existing DiData cloud asset called BlueFire, and said the firm's customers were "increasingly expressing more and more interest in starting their own journey to cloud."

DiData CEO Brett Dawson said: "Under Steve's leadership the Australian business has grown from revenues of US$365m in 2002 to over US$1bn today. Steve has also successfully transformed the Australian business from a reseller into an outsourcing and managed services focused business.

"His experience with cloud architecture stands him in good stead to establish and grow [our] global cloud business," added Dawson.
