MS cloud boss Muglia pops up at Juniper

Former Microsoft cloud supremo Bob Muglia, who left the firm at the start of the year, has joined networking vendor Juniper Networks in the newly created role of executive vice president of its new Software Solutions Division.

Muglia will be reunited with former colleague and Microsoft consumer marketing head Brad Brooks, who left the Pacific northwest for Juniper's California base in January, where he heads up enterprise marketing.

Juniper said that it had taken the decision to centralise its software business under Muglia's leadership as part of a strategy to focus on systems and software as its main growth engines; it believes its software business is already a key differentiator when it comes up against its core network competitors.

"[Muglia's] vision, management savvy and technical expertise will bring tremendous value to our organisation," said Juniper CEO Kevin Johnson.

"We look forward to Bob playing a central role in extending our leadership position in network powered software," he added.
