BT Engage IT signals that growth ambitions continue

BT Engage IT has completed the first stage of its recruitment drive after hiring in 40 heads but has vowed to keep expanding in order to gain growth.

The reseller arm of BT has been actively recruiting from the channel since May this year picking up staff from the likes of SCC, Computacenter, HP, IBM and Ricoh.

Among those that joined has been Steve Rafferty, former member of the corporate sales team at SCC, who has become BT business sales director.

At the same time the firm has recruited 15 apprentices to work over the next three years as they gain their qualifications in IT and sales.

Chris Lindsay, marketing director at BT Engage IT, said that the progress marked the end of the first stage of its growth plans and it believed that more staff would deliver more sales.

"We are aiming for aggressive growth and a key part of that is hiring more," he said.

Lindsay said there was a feeling among customers that the worst was over in the economy and projects were coming back on stream but resellers still had to demonstrate value.
