Manchester-based servcies provider ANS has more than doubled its turnover to £29.4m during an eventful fiscal 2011.

In the 12 months to 31 March, the firm turned in gross profit of £6.6m, up 68%, and operating profit of £1.5m, up 66%.

The firm's growth spurt came in part from its acquisition of NetApp partner Alpha Business Systems at the end of October 2010, which added over £10m in annual sales.

However, ANS also said it saw plenty of organic growth around its Infrastructure 3 (I3) solution, which according to chairman Scott Fletcher is gaining traction both among customers and service providers that want to sell a high-end cloud proposition themselves.

"Effectively we've transformed the business into a cloud, datacentre and managed services specialist, the pipeline is growing and the average deal size is getting bigger," he told MicroScope today.

ANS is targeting full-year 2012 sales of around £40m. The firm is also planning to recruit further this year, with expertise around high-end networks, datacentre technology, storage and virtualisation particularly in demand, said Fletcher.
