Nokia has taken the wraps off a distribution revamp that sees it settle on three partners and unveil a channel network.

The telecoms vendor has made the strategic changes following a six month review of what it needs to do to further its business in the distribution tier of the channel.

The results are the appointment of Ingram Micro to serve the IT reseller channel, Micro-P to reach out to the consumer and business telecom community and it expands a relationship with franchise accessories partner Kondor.

As a result former distribution partners 2020 and Data Select have been dropped with immediate effect.

At the same time the vendor has launched the Nokia partner network which is a way of ensuring customers are given the best product recommendations via the manufacturer'ecosystem.

James Kitto, Nokia's head of retail and distribution, said that it had made the decision to appoint new distributors to support UK growth plans.

Both Ingram and Micro-P welcomed their appointments and felt that they could have a positive impact in the channel segments they had been appointed to serve.

"Gerry O'Keeffee, Micro-P's managing director, said that it was going to work with UK dealers to build demand for the vendor's complete portfolio.

Over at Ingram UK managing director Matt Sanderson, said that there was increasing demand in the market for mobile products: "There is a huge opportunity within the enterprise and SME market for powerful smartphone solutions that offer a simple and easy to manage way of connecting people with the information they need, when they need it."
