Cloud infrastructure services provider Interoute has spent an undisclosed sum to buy Midlands-based Oracle platinum partner Quantix in an attempt to get into managed application services as well.
Interoute will look to exploit Quantix's 'OraCloud' platform to manage its international customers' database apps, including Oracle and SQL, as a cloud-based service. It said it plans to maintain and build on Quantix's "rich pool of skills", turning its Nottingham HQ into a centre of excellence for application management and cloud services development.
"Our strategy is based around providing customers with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions and services from ground to cloud. Our enterprise strategy 'Unified ICT' is an approach to creating and managing all enterprise ICT infrastructures as a service, delivered from a secure networking platform," explained Interoute CEO Gareth Williams.
Quantix managing director Simon Goodenough said the firm would continue to serve its UK customer base as normal, but was looking forward to taking its proposition to a pan-European base.
TechMarketView's Anthony Miller, meanwhile, cautioned that success in infrastructure services would "by no means" guarantee success in the latter.
