Comstor launches Cisco configuration, support services

Comstor, the Cisco-focused arm of networking and convergence distributor Westcon, has teamed up with Cisco and managed services app developer UBIQube to launch a configuration and support services programme pitched at the SMb sector.

The programme, branded Activ8, has been designed for UK resellers selling its UC500 system, and will offer what Comstor describes as 'Zero Touch' configuration and 'Low Touch' management services on Cisco UC solutions.

Comstor claims the programme has been partly designed to help resellers demystify the Cisco configuration process. Programme manager Justin Turner explained: "Partners participating in the programme leverage a web-based interface that allows pre-sales engineers to capture user requirement - which can be completed in one session or over a series of meetings."

He added: "Activ8 screens are designed to be intuitive and easy to use. You don't need to be a highly-skilled Cisco voice engineer to complete the requirements capture stage."

The programme also includes automatic ordering capabilities, while physical connection of the system is backed off to Comstor's logistics team, meaning the reseller engineer merely has to rack and stack the kit when it arrives on site. Comstor believes this will bring down engineer time on site due to configuration errors or repeat visits, upping customer satisfaction.

The support services component includes facilities for resellers to run remote moves, adds and changing, daily backups, VoIP monitoring, telephony and voicemail features and license management, among other things.
