The main beneficiary of the bring your own device movement is set to be Apple with the vendor mounting a serious challenge to the Blackberry dominance in the enterprise space.

RIM might have already found it difficult to compete with Apple in the consumer space but research from iPass shows that IT departments are braced for an expansion of both iPhones and iPads.

The enterprise mobility services firm found that the expectations of an explosion in Apple devices are also accompanied by a similar rise in the corporate adoption of Android products.

The shake up in the corporate market has been gathering pace as a result of the bring your own device movement as well as the increasing popularity of tablets as a business tool and it could provide opportunities for resellers.

"Progressive IT departments are reinventing themselves from a command and control perspective as mobility is the dominant force shaping the IT landscape," said Barbara Nelson, chief technology officer at iPass.

"There are measurable gains to be realized by implementing technology that mobilizes a workforce and enables IT to regain security and control," she added.
