HP insider to run Networking business

A little over four months since Marius Haas moved on to pastures new, HP has named Bethany Mayer to the post of senior vice president and general manager of HP Networking.

Mayer's appointment is little more than a formality for HP; a former ESSN marketing vice president she was handed Haas' role, which reports to Dave Donatelli, on an interim basis over the summer.

In that time, she has overseen several successful product launches in the SMB and virtualised networking spaces, as well as new network security offerings from TippingPoint.

In a statement, HP also praised Mayer for strengthening HP Networking's position as the number two vendor in the networking sector.

"Bethany's networking and business experience will help HP to continue to advance market share gain," said Donatelli. "During her interim leadership, [she] exceeded performance goals resulting in our seventh straight quarter of double digit growth."
