Lanway bolsters managed services business

Simon Quicke
Public sector cuts have prompted a change of direction at AV education specialist Lanway over the last year and a half with the reseller moving into the managed services arena and now making a major appointment to beef up that side of its business.

Neil Farnworth has been appointed as director of managed and professional services targeting both corporates and SME customers with a cloud-based services package as the reseller looks to expand that side of its operations in the light of ongoing cuts from its public sector customers on its traditional infrastructure offerings.

Andrew Henderson, commercial director at Lanway, said that the appointment was another "key piece in the jigsaw" and Farnworth had the necessary experience: "Moving forwards, we believe the services side of the business has great potential for future growth."

In response Farnworth, who had previously worked at Blackburn's CMS Group, said that there were opportunities in the market for Lanway, "as their capabilities include implementation of the full end-to-end infrastructure solution which very few businesses can offer. Some providers offer hosted solutions, others offer infrastructure solutions, but very few offer both."
