C2000 hands former LG Electronics mobile boss Brightstar role

Computer 2000 has appointed the former head of LG Electronics UK mobile division to run the Brightstar Europe operation.

Jim Michel, takes the position of managing director UK and Ireland at Brightstar, which is a joint venture between the distributor and Brightstar Corporation, and is the last piece in the management jigsaw at C2000.

Michel's appointment follows on from Colin McGregor being given the role of running Azlan UK back in September and the moves to appoint Peter Hubbard as sales director and David Watts as commercial director in June.

Michel has 15 years experience in the mobile market at LG Electronics and before that Motorola and will be tasked with driving growth in Brightstar.

Andy Gass, managing director at C2000, said that it had set itself the ambition of growing the business through a 'collection of specialists' strategy that leant not just on Brightstar  but also on Azlan and Maverick.

"This is already delivering positive results and with the quality and commercial insight we now have on our board of directors, we are confident that we can continue setting the pace in the distribution sector- both in terms of delivering the best levels of service and driving growth for our reseller customers and vendor partners," he said.
