Resellers should start selling hybrid cloud solutions, combining on-premise with hosted applications, now as the market and the technology is ready to support that sales pitch.
The expectation across the industry is that the hybrid cloud model will exist for the next few years as customers move towards the cloud shifting certain applications and departments over before taking a wholesale move to the hosted option.
Denise Bryant, managing director at Magirus, said that it had used its stand at the recent IP Expo show to demonstrate how cloud technology could be sold today and added that there was already demand and interest from resellers and users.
"We are talking to partners and customers are now starting to talk about cloud strategies," she added "The private cloud is about 80 to 90% of the business for commercial enterprises and the next step is for them to move more towards the public cloud, but that could take sometime."
The hybrid cloud model has been championed most publicly by Microsoft but other vendors have also indicated that they will follow a line of providing the choice between hosted and on-premise with Sage among those opting for that approach.
