Netgear arms itself for security distibution push

Alex Scroxton

Netgear has signed up security VAD Tekdata to make good on its plans to attract more specialist resellers to its table, as detailed last week on MicroScope.co.uk.

Netgear VAR director Jonathan Hallatt said that the distie's reputation in the security space had been critical when it came to taking the decision to sign.

"Organisations are beginning to understand that investment in up-to-date security protection and education of the workforce is an essential step in safeguarding the productivity and intellectual property of the business," he explained.

"Now, though, buyers no longer need tolerate the premium charges of larger brands that are often associated with this level of product and service."

Although primarily a security specialist, Tekdata has been tasked with expanding the vendor's exposure to the SMB market and will stock a range of Netgear products including its network and routing gear.

"Tekdata's innovation and expertise, particularly in security and the SMB marketplace, will provide the level of support needed for the channel and the platform for Netgear to continue to grow in the UK," said Hallatt.

Added Tekdata managing director Ken Hulme: "Our tradition of partnering with leading-edge security providers holds true in this agreement with Netgear."
