TalkTalk Business boss Lawton heads for the exit

TalkTalk Business managing director Paul Lawton has relinquished the hotseat to IBM UK Commercial head Charles Bligh, who will take up the role in mid-November, reporting directly to TalkTalk Group CEO Dido Harding.

In a statement issued late yesterday, TalkTalk Business said Lawton had elected to pursue other opportunities outside the business.

Lawton joined TalkTalk Business, then known as Opal, in 2006 from Your Communications, where he was director of mobile and marketing prior to its takeover by Thus.

TalkTalk said he had played a pivotal role in the development and growth of the division in recent years, building "a strong and effective management team."

"Paul leaves the business with our gratitude and best wishes for the future," it said.

Lawton steered the business through a tricky restructuring programme, a rebrand last February and a number of small acquisitions in the channel. He also played a key role in repositioning the unit as a data services provider, as the cost of voice minutes continued to drop like a stone.
