Former Avaya UK managing director Lee Shorten is moving deeper into the channel to take up a consultancy role at Avaya partner Excell Communications.
Shorten will be charged with reviewing the firm's go-to-market strategy and developing new business models for its voice-ready cloud offering.
Excell, which is also a Cisco Select, Mitel and Microsoft Certified partner, bills itself as an end-to-end network services provider and has ploughed a substantial sum into building its own next-generation network (NGN) and a SIP trunking services option.
Company chairman Darren Strowger said the firm was seeing gathering strength in the midmarket enterprise sector and would look to Shorten to help develop a business plan to "underpin our long-term growth ambitions."
Added Shorten: "Excell [is] ... able to deliver and manage complete end to end communication solutions for desk based and mobile workforces with voice, data and video.
"Excell own their own NGN and are therefore able to aggregate across multiple providers, the cost savings can be instant," he added.
Shorten, who is also involved with sales and leadership consultancy Positive Momentum, was replaced at Avaya by ex-Azlan head Andrew Sheppard, who last month vowed to adopt a more straightforward relationship with the firm's partners.
