SugarCRM to open Cambridge base

Following its selection by the government as the only open source option for CRM deployments in the public sector, software specialist SugarCRM is to cut the ribbon on a new UK base in Cambridge to support its expected growth.

"Outside of the US and Germany, the UK is our largest market and has the greatest potential, so it was imperative to increase our presence here," explained SugarCRM European vice president and general manager, Tom Schuster.

"Opening an office in Cambridge will allow us to meet the needs of our UK partners and to enhance our offerings further, ensuring clients are supported effectively and are achieving the best possible results for their business," he added.

The firm reckons a pad in the Silicon Fen area means it will be able to draw on emerging talent in the area, as well as ensuring a fresh supply of tech grads from Cambridge University.

Privately-held SugarCRM claims to have grown its total billings by 50% during 2010, and 68% year-on-year in the most recent quarter.
