C2000 takes wraps off electronic software activation service

Computer 2000 has rolled out electronic software activation and the option of downloads for its resellers to speed up the support they offer customers.

The TDActivate-here service is designed to help resellers quickly deliver activation codes and downloads for those customers that have come to the end of their 30-day trial period with pre-installed software.

With customers finding that the software they have been using is running out the distributor has launched its service with the aim of helping the customer get the full version via their channel partner in an hour.

The service soft-launched back in the summer with hundreds of resellers already trying it out and it covers Microsoft products and Symantec Norton security applications.

James Reed, general manager of the software division at C2000, said that using a web based service meant the resellers could not only offer a quick solution but did not have to carry stock.

"It means they can always offer the full range of products and the very latest versions of each one - without purchasing and holding stock in advance. That's much more convenient and reduces costs significantly," he said.
