DiData puts cloud business at centre of 2012 plans

Systems integrator Dimension Data has labelled its growing cloud business as a key strategic priority for the next 12 months, following its acquisition of enterprise cloud firm OpSource in July.

Speaking as the firm unveiled its year-end results to September, CEO Brett Dawson said there was "enormous value" in what DiData's heritage in systems integration could bring to the cloud market.

"I believe our expertise and skills are critical differentiators in the marketplace," he said. "The extension of our services expertise and capabilities, coupled with our ability to bring clients a cloud solution for every stage on their journey will prove a true game-changer."

Among DiData's plans for its cloud business next year are the release of a global cloud infrastructure and platform. Dawson said the business was "on track" to take its new proposition to the market.

As far as the financial picture goes, it was the firm's system integration business that proved its biggest money-spinner, helping drive total revenues up 22.1% in reported currency (14.8% constant) to $5.79bn (£3.7bn).

The firm singled out its managed services business, which expanded its sales by 15.5%, for particular praise. Product and professional services growth slowed, particularly towards the end of the year, as clients held back on new technology projects.
