The New Year's Honour list had a touch of technology about it with Apple's senior vice president of industrial design Jonathan Ive being awarded a knighthood.
The British designer is credited with influencing the appearance of some of Apple's most iconic products including the iMac and iPod and picked up a Knight Commander of the British Empire (KBE) over the New Year for services to design and enterprise.
He joined the vendor back in 1992 and has become one of the most high profile executives at the vendor closely associated with bringing the vision of its late CEO Steve Jobs to fruition.
Along with Ive there were honours awarded to a host of sports stars and entertainers with CBEs for Helena Bonham Carter and Ronnie Corbett.
