HP looks for increased networking activity from partners

Hewlett-Packard is looking for more resellers to sell its networking range in response to moves it has made to simplify its partner programme and extend training and support in that market.

The vendor made changes to its networking specialisations last month as it looked to harmonise programmes globally under the PartnerONE banner and simplified the structure and set about encouraging those selling servers and storage to extend their portfolio.

Kevin Matthews, UK&I enterprise storage, server and networking channel manager, said that it had cut the number of networking specialisms from six to three and was offering greater support with its ExpertONE training programme for those that wanted to make the transition to sell more products.

"Some of the partners have already embraced the technology and are selling the complete portfolio and we want to drive that and accelerate it," he said.

He added that it now had a structure that allowed resellers to focus on the SMB, mid-market or the high-end of the spectrum and similar simplifications in the specialisations had also happened in the storage space.
