Softcat gets education server, storage contract

Alex Scroxton
Softcat has been named among a select group of service providers to provide server and data storage equipment to further education institutions by the Crescent Purchasing Consortium (CPC).

Under the 'Network Hardware & Services, including Servers & Data Storage' framework contract will run until at least 2014, with options to extend to 2016, and covers institutions ranging from universities, academies, free schools and even museums.

Softcat already holds the CPC's desktop hardware and peripherals accreditation, and sees the latest award as a means to grow its services offering into the education sector.

"[This is] a valuable vehicle with which to shine and excel within the wider education sector," said Softcat public sector frameworks manager Andy Bruen.

"Historically our core competencies have been seen to be in the server and storage space, [so] our education customer base can only benefit from Softcat's service delivery through CPC's new IT framework," he added.
