SAP has highlighted its ability to help customers meet the bring your own device (BYOD) challenge after using Mobile World Congress to unveil its latest software to manage mobile products.
Version 7.0 of the vendor's Afaria software will offer management for mobile devices and applications and is a direct response to the growing trend for BYOD.
Afaria should encourage more adoption of BYOD because those that have resisted the move towards allowing staff to use their own products because of management issues should be placated by the launch.
"These enhancements have the opportunity to significantly benefit customers as the number of mobile devices surpasses PCs in the enterprise and IT requires more simplified, cost-effective mobility management," said Stacy Crook, senior analyst, mobile enterprise research at IDC.
"The consumerisation of IT is driving our innovation path," said Sanjay Poonen, president, global solutions at SAP.
