ComputerLinks continues to strengthen its cloud services portfolio after signing up with branch-on-demand specialist Aerohive.

The market for branch-on-demand, the ability to support remote locations and staff securely via a network connection that ensures workers stick to corporate policy, is expected to grow strongly this year fueled by the need for many to work from home during the Olympics.

But for ComputerLinks it marks another step in the channel player's strategy to develop a cloud portfolio and the Aerohive products will be integrated alongside other lines it carries.

Dave Ellis, director of new technology and services at ComputerLinks, said that remote and home working were growing and for the resellers the option to offer a product that would provide secure connectivity was an attractive opportunity.

He said that the signing was part of wider moves it was making in the application delivery space and there were more "things on the horizon in the next month or so".

Neil Ledger, at Exclusive Networks, which has been a distributor in the UK for Aerohive for the past four years, said he accepted that the vendor had got to the point in its lifecycle where it needed a second distributor.

"We have had a good run at it but it was time to open it up," but he added that the hard work it had done growing the market had been recognised and the resellers it had developed would be ring-fenced.

Mark Powley, UK sales director at Aerohive, said that it was in a strong position, "working with two of the most disruptive and innovative distributors the UK has to offer".
