With BYOD on the rise there is a growing challenge for those that are already providing managed services, or looking to develop their skills in that market, to tackle mobile device management.
But so far the issue has led to some problems for those that are used to pitching their pricing based around supporting equipment that comes with a much higher price tag.
Talking at a Level Platforms managed service event some of those currently selling managed services revealed the current problems they are facing.
"Is somebody going to be happy paying an incident call charge for a Blackberry?" said Richard Cook, managing director at Blue Chip Data Systems.
He added that pricing would remain an issue although the technology was now capable of monitoring and managing the devices.
Speaking at an event earlier this week Dave Sobel, director of partner community at Level Platforms, said that the world was changing and even established MSPs had to expand their offerings.
"Some people have standardised on a customer stack very nicely but then the iPad comes along," he added "You simply cannot standardise anymore."
