Research from Citrix on the state of the cloud market has produced some sobering reading revealing that a full transition to a hosted world is going to take years.
Most resellers have already realised that the current pitch is around a hybrid model taking customers over to the cloud in a staggered fashion usually starting with backup and email applications.
But the Citrix research lays bare the extent to which not only are customers moving slowly but the channel itself is having a problem getting the skilled staff on hand to help make the transition for users.
Reseller predictions alast March indicating that although optimism remains the speed of transition is slower than expected.
"There's no denying that the move to cloud services is coming and the channel needs to be prepared to support this," said Kevin Bland, channel director for UK, Ireland and South Africa at Citrix.
"Where a skills gap is holding companies back, there is an opportunity for the channel to step in and offer its services to support customers making the move into the cloud," he added.
