Ingram Micro has added to its cloud services portfolio after being signed as the exclusive partner for CA's hosted data protection and disaster recovery service.

Ingram will carry the CA ARCserve D2D On Demand Software as a Service (SaaS) adding it to the growing list of cloud-based offerings it can deliver to resellers.

The CA product is aimed at SMEs that want to protect their key data without causing disruption combining on-site backup with cloud based restore via Windows Azure, which is being pitched as a hybrid solution.

"We are continuing to expand and evolve our Cloud and managed service capabilities to meet and anticipate the demands of our reseller partners," said Jon Bunyard, value business director at Ingram Micro.

"We have provided additional resources, such as our dedicated Cloud Business Development Manager and Cloud sales specialists, to enable sales opportunities to be identified and generated," he added.

"Now that SMBs are experiencing the same intensive proliferation of high-value data as their enterprise counterparts, they are in desperate need of a backup solution that is fast, scalable, easy to implement, richly functional and priced right," said Steve Fairbanks, vice president, Data Management, CA Technologies.
