Corero formalises security VAR programme

DDoS and IPS vendor Corero Network Security has rubber-stamped its first official partner and distributor programme, SecureWatch.

Corero has been surfing a wave of popular interest in the growing prevalance of DDoS attacks on businesses and governments, and reckons it can take advantage of this to offer resellers a chance to improve their profitability through addressing these concerns.

It claims to offer partners a "rare opportunity" to drive their security businesses through upgrading to more advanced solutions, and through deployment of its on-premise DDoS defence product, which screens out both network- and application-layer attacks, an area where cloud- or ISP- services traditionally struggle.

"With cyber-attackers increasingly launching DDoS attacks and leveraging sophisticated malware, enterprises need the most effective and comprehensive front-line protection available on the market, dedicated, expert support and trusted advisers who stand with them," said Corero's CEO, Marty Meyer.

Graham Smee of Cohort Technology, which came on-board as a new distie in February, said that despite the high profile of DDoS attacks, the channel had yet to exploit the market fully.

"Traditional defence solutions are now inadequate to protect ... websites from attack," said Smee. "Corero's technology sets itself apart as a solution that can truly address the challenges enterprises are facing on a day-to-day basis."

The programme, which was formally launched late last week, includes the usual perks including lead generation, guaranteed margins for registered deals, deal protection, training and certification and marketing support collateral.
