ZyXEL aims to boost VAR numbers with free training

ZyXEL is counting on a new free training offer on wireless and security solutions to help it achieve ambitious channel expansion targets for the UK and Ireland.

The broadband networking specialist has already got 120 partners to sign on the dotted line since the start of the year, and hopes to usher another 500 into the fold by Christmas.

Its basic Certified Network Engineer course normally starts at £300 but is currently being offered gratis, and ZyXEL says it has already seen a positive response to the offer.

It is now considering making further free spaces available on scheduled courses and extending the programme further.

"We want to increase our penetration across SMB, corporate and retail," explained UK and Ireland channel head Antony Byford.

"We're particularly keen to encourage partners on security and wireless as we are seeing good sales ... on upgrades to our latest USG unified security appliances and to 802.11n," he added.

ZyXEL added it would be leaning on its distribution partners to recruit new resellers to the scheme.
