Before the virtualisation security sales comes the education

Simon Quicke

Just as the subject of virtualisation security emerges as one of the hot topics in the industry the extent of the educational task head is being laid bare.

Several vendor were talking up the products they are starting to sell to cover off this area but most admitted that the customer will need to be hand-held through the need for protection.

Kaspersky Lab research has revealed that although 81% of services in virtualised environments are business critical around 41% of the IT professionals looking after it have described their experience of virtual technology "just enough" or "basic".

Kaspersky is itself entering into the virtualisation security arena, along with the likes of Watchguard and Bitdefender and its corportate sales director for the UK and Ireland Andrew Lintell said that customers had to start thinking differently. "Channel partners want to help new and existing customers to better address this challenge."
