SAS acquires Tidewell to bolster networking muscle

Managed network specialist SAS Group has moved to grow its routes to customers through the acquisition of voice and networking reseller Tidewell Solutions.

The West Sussex based reseller is the first in a series of acquisitions that is expected to happen over the next three years and has been made to give SAS more control over sales to customers as well as a chance to grow its user base.

"With this acquisition we will have a lot more control over the networking products we sell to our customers," said Charles Davis, CEO of the SAS Group.

"It will also allow us to be more competitive on pricing, a key component of growing our direct customer base, and will be a major enabler for increasing our service levels and flexibility to existing customers," he added.

The financial details of the transaction remained undisclosed but the staff at Tidewell will be integrated into the SAS Group.

Davis said that it would acquire again to move into emerging parts of the market: "We are looking to acquire complementary managed service businesses that allow us to extend our current service reach from IP networking and application path management into key areas such as business applications, cloud security, hosting and mobility management."

"This strategy will ensure that we continue to bridge the knowledge gap between network and application providers and deliver increasing value to customers operating in both physical and virtual environments," he added.
