For the first time in the best part of two years the market in Q2 showed a 5.4% increase in those IT decision-makers who planned to spend on virtualisation.
According to the latest IT Index from Pearlfinders, which monitors trends and opinions in the tech world, users are looking at desktop virtualisation taking the view that they are comfortable with the investments made at a server level.
"Having been pitched in different forms by a range of vendors over the years, trends such as increased mobility and BYOD have contributed to a renewed interest in VDI solutions," the Index stated.
"Suppliers should note with server virtualisation often completed to a point of satisfaction the larger interest is in a more flexible and remote desktop environment in an increasingly, 'Post-PC' world," it added.
